The Background Story

(e) estheronline [aka nearlycivilized.com] is designed and maintained on a continual basis by PRC (comments and suggestions are always welcome). Contrary to some of the things I've read on the internet, I am neither j. englishman nor esthero's ex-boyfriend.

The site was started in 1998 after seeing esthero perform in the ampitheatre outside the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. Originally hosted on Angelfire (if anyone knows my passwords I might be able to delete the files that are still up there), the site moved to www.nearlycivilized.com in 2001, after months of having the song stuck in my head (I was fortunate enough to have been able to visit the studio during mixing). Re-design happens every 4-5 months, to keep things fresh and because I'm never terribly happy with any design by the time it's a week old (execution of ideas has always been troublesome). I have no "training" in design or HTML per se, just a fair amount of experience with some basic stuff.

If you'd like to support the site (as it's currently supported by my Amex card), the best thing to do is buy music using the links sitewide. That way I get credits at Amazon.com and you get CDs that you'd be buying anyway.
